Syakaa William

Syakaa is a Senior Project Manager based in Dar es Salaam, leading the Nature Based Solutions portfolio at Axum. In this role, Syakaa supports the development of various national and company-specific strategies and policies across sectors that promote adaptation and mitigation. He currently manages the Biodiversity Investments – Researcher and Accelerator (BIRA) program unlocking investments in conservation (including launching Africa’s first biodiversity accelerator). He also supports the Climate Smart Forest Economy Program in creating sustainable markets for forest products. Recently, Syakaa supported the Zambian parliament, alongside the One Acre Fund, in benchmarking to inform the upcoming carbon markets policy for the country. He is currently working with Capital for Climate, to map investable opportunities for Nature-based Solutions on the continent.Prior to joining Axum, Syakaa spent 7 years at Dalberg Advisors building the firm’s presence and supporting in managing the Tanzania office. He is also a founding member of the Tanzania Climate Network. He holds a degree in economics from Yale College and is an alumnus of the African Leadership Academy.
