Bonmwa Fwangkwal

Bonmwa is a sustainability and climate change professional based in Lagos with a strong emphasis on advancing the circular economy. Prior to joining Axum, she worked at Dalberg Implement. She is currently at the forefront of driving sustainable initiatives as the Program Manager for the African Circular Economy Alliance (ACEA) Secretariat. In this capacity, she coordinates initiatives to transition African countries towards a circular economy by collaborating with member nations and strategic partners. This involves supporting circular economy businesses to scale up, advocating for circular-friendly policy development, and promoting awareness of circular economy principles.

Additionally, Bonmwa acquired significant experience at PwC Nigeria in the Sustainability and Climate Change Unit. She assisted public and private sector clients in addressing environmental and social challenges, including materiality assessments, stakeholder engagement, strategy development, risk assessment, and impact management. Bonmwa holds a Masters’ degree in Sustainability and Environmental Studies from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland, and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Jos, Nigeria. She belongs to the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA) and is currently a Lead Author in the Circular Economy chapter for the 7th edition of UNEP’s Global Environment Outlook Report.
