Bongiwe Shongwe

Bongiwe is a Project Manager based in Kigali. She is passionate about integrating sustainability into financial investment activity as well as promoting inclusive socio-economic development, particularly targeting often marginalised groups. Prior to Axum, Bongiwe worked with Dalberg. She has worked on various engagements to promote inclusive, nature-positive investment and economic development.

Some of her work includes helping a large continental development fund conceptualize the design and operationalisation of institutions to improve access to finance and technical support to women- and youth-led micro, small, and medium enterprises. Bongiwe also supported a leading investment entity by developing an investor-facing framework to measure and rate the impact on natural capital and people of investment activity. Bongiwe holds an MBA from the University of Missouri–Columbia and a BA in Economics (Honours) from Westminster College in Missouri, USA.
